How this is calculated
Formula version lll-clinic-cost-1.0.0
Observations matching the requested therapy and country are selected from the injected price set. With at least 3 exact package-length matches the median and interquartile range of those prices are reported directly; otherwise a per-week median is scaled to the requested length and the output says so. Fewer than 3 matching observations returns UNKNOWN with a reason rather than a number. Median and IQR are used rather than mean and standard deviation because price samples are small and right-skewed.
What it cannot do
- This package ships no price data. Everything depends on the observation set the caller injects.
- There is no authoritative published dataset of longevity-clinic prices, so no external validation of any figure is possible.
- Advertised prices are not transacted prices; discounting and bundling are common and invisible here.
- Per-week scaling assumes price is linear in programme length, which it generally is not.
- A price says nothing about efficacy. Several listed therapies have no good outcome evidence.
Sources
- LLL market price observation set (injected by the application at run time; each observation carries its own source and year)
- Method note: distribution summarised by median and interquartile range, the standard robust summary for small, skewed price samples
The formula version is pinned so that a result you saved or shared can be reproduced. When we change a coefficient, the version changes and old results stay attributed to the version that produced them.
Questions people ask
- Why does it sometimes refuse to give a price?
- Because fewer than three of our price observations matched your therapy and country. A median of one or two advertised prices is not an estimate, it is an anecdote with a decimal point.
- Are these the prices I will pay?
- No. These are advertised or observed package prices. Transacted prices are routinely discounted or bundled, and neither shows up here. Treat the range as a negotiating baseline.
